Emergency First Aid at Work (1 day)

FAA Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF) 

Qualification Information:

This course meets the requirements of the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982.

You will gain the knowledge and practical competence required to deal with a range of workplace first aid situations.

The qualification consists of one mandatory unit which you must successfully complete to achieve the full qualification. 

Entry Requirements:

Available to learners aged 16+

Due to the practical nature of the first aid assessment, there are physical demands and you must be able to demonstrate your skills as in a real-life situation. An example of this would be to demonstrate CPR on a manikin at floor level. 

Certification:

Proof of identification will be required at the start of the course such as a passport/ driving license/ credit debit card.

The qualification is valid for three years from the date of achievement. Annual refresher training is recommended.

Requalification:

You will need to complete the full course again to requalify for a further three years. You should attend this course before the expiry of your current qualification to be considered competent to act as an Emergency First Aider in the workplace. 


First Aid at Work (3 days)

FAA Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF)

Qualification Information:

This course meets the requirements of the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982.

You will gain the knowledge and practical competence required to deal with a range of workplace first aid situations.

The qualification consists of two mandatory units which you must successfully complete to achieve the full qualification. Learners who complete unit one can be awarded the FAA Award in Emergency First Aid at Work. 

Entry Requirements:

Available to learners aged 16+

Due to the practical nature of the first aid assessment, there are physical demands and you must be able to demonstrate your skills as in a real-life situation. An example of this would be to demonstrate CPR on a manikin at floor level. 

Certification:

Proof of identification will be required at the start of the course such as a passport/ driving license/ credit debit card.

The qualification is valid for three years from the date of achievement. Annual refresher training is recommended.

Requalification:

You will be able to requalify by attending a shortened FAA Award in First Aid at Work Requalification course if your current qualification is in date. The course is reduced to 2 days. You should attend this course before the expiry date of your current qualification. If you prefer, you can attend the full 3-day course again.


First Aid at Work Requalification (2 days)

FAA Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF)

Qualification information:

This course meets the requirements of the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982.

You will gain the knowledge and practical competence required to deal with a range of workplace first aid situations.

Defibrillator Training (2 hours)

Bespoke training course and certification

Heart and circulatory disease claims around 200,000 lives each year. Many could have been saved if a defibrillator was made available. 

Automated External Defibrillators (AED’s) are now becoming more common throughout a range of public and work-places. 

A casualty’s survival rate will dramatically increase if an AED is available and if you have appropriately qualified personnel to use it. 

This very practical course will enable your learners to use the AED competently and with confidence. 

Not only does this course deal with the use of an AED but it also includes vital training in resuscitation and choking procedures. 

Pre-requisites:

Delegates must hold a current First Aid qualification.

Duration:

Minimum 2 hours

Syllabus:

AED functions; AED safety; Paediatric defibrillation; Assessment of the situation; Dealing with an unresponsive casualty 

Certification:

Assessment is ongoing by the instructor ending with a multiple-choice question paper. The qualification doesn’t expire, but refresher training and keeping up to date with policies and procedures is vital to keep the qualification current.

Numbers:

The course can accommodate up to 16 delegates. The minimum age is 16.


Health & Safety Level 1 (half day)

FAA Level 1 Award in Health & Safety in the workplace (RQF)

This is an excellent introduction to health and safety in the workplace and will benefit any worker, in any industry or sector and accommodates induction training for the new employee very well. All aspects of Health and Safety are important to a business whether you are an employee, contractor or supplier and this half-day course will benefit both the learner and the business, ensuring that the working environment is a safe and healthy one. 

Duration:

A half day classroom-based course. No previous experience necessary.

Syllabus:

A range of subjects are covered including: 

Understanding the importance of health, safety and welfare standards in the workplace 

Knowing how hazards and risks are controlled in the workplace
Being aware of the main causes and effects of poor health and safety at work
Understanding how health and safety information is communicated in the workplace

Certification:

Assessment is ongoing by the instructor ending with a multiple-choice question paper.

The qualification doesn’t expire, but refresher training and keeping up to date with policies and procedures is vital to keep the qualification current.

Numbers:

A maximum of 16 students are allowed and must be a minimum of 14 years of age and a certificate can be offered to all, subject to assessment. 

A student cannot assume a responsibility in the workplace until they reach the age of 16, and then it is the employer’s responsibility to ensure that the student is suitable for that role. 


Health & Safety Level 2 (1 day)

FAA Level 2 Award in Health & Safety in the workplace (RQF)

This is an excellent introduction to health and safety in the workplace and will benefit all employees, particularly those who may be accepting a health and safety role, such as a safety representative within their organisation. Successful candidates will be awarded a national Level 2 (Level 5 in Scotland) qualification which will provide an ideal platform to higher level training or career development. 

Duration:

A 1-day classroom-based course. Dependant on the learner’s experience, there may well be some pre-course or post course reading.

Syllabus:

A range of subjects are covered including:

The roles and responsibilities for health, safety and welfare in the workplace. 

The value and process of risk assessments.
The identification and control of workplace hazards.
How to respond to workplace incidents and accidents 

Certification:

Assessment is ongoing by the instructor ending with a multiple-choice question paper.

The qualification doesn’t expire, but refresher training and keeping up to date with policies and procedures is vital to keep the qualification current.

Numbers:

A maximum of 16 students are accommodated on this course, and the minimum age to qualify is 16.


Fire Safety Awareness Level 1 (half day)

FAA Level 1 Award in Fire Safety Awareness (RQF)

You will, no doubt, be well aware of the potentially devastating effects of fires in the workplace in terms of lives lost, injuries, damage to property and the environment, and to the business continuity. You may also be aware that it is believed that most fires are preventable. 

The importance of fire safety in the workplace is underpinned by health and safety legislation that places a duty on employers to establish policies and procedures and ensure their employees receive appropriate training. 

This course is designed for all employees as an introduction to fire awareness and is an excellent ingredient in the induction programme of new employees. It deals with how fires can occur and what to do in the event of a fire. The qualification also provides a foundation for those employees who want to develop their basic fire safety awareness. 

Successful candidates will be awarded a national level 1 qualification (Level 4 in Scotland). 

Duration:

A half day classroom based course

Syllabus:

A range of subjects is covered including: 

The common causes of fire
The behaviour of fire
Legislation (brief) and responsibilities 

Fire prevention
What to do if a fire breaks out
How to use fire extinguishers
Emergency evacuation procedures 

Certification:

The qualification does not have an expiry date but refresher training and keeping up to date with changes to policies, procedures and new legislation through ongoing CPD is vital. 

Numbers:

A maximum of 16 students are allowed and must be a minimum of 14 years of age and a certificate can be offered to all, subject to assessment. A student cannot assume a responsibility in the workplace until they reach the age of 16, and then it is the employer’s responsibility to ensure that the student is suitable for that role. 


Fire Safety/ Warden Level 2 (1 day)

FAA Level 2 Award in Fire Safety (RQF)

You will, no doubt, be well aware of the potentially devastating effects of fires in the workplace in terms of lives lost, injuries, damage
to property and the environment, and to business continuity. You may also be aware that It is believed that most fires are preventable. The importance of fire safety in the workplace is underpinned by health and safety legislation that places a duty on employers to establish policies and procedures and ensure their employees receive appropriate training. 

This course is designed for employees who want to develop their basic fire safety awareness in order to assist their employer by undertaking more specific fire safety roles in the workplace to manage fire risk (e.g. as fire wardens/marshals/stewards etc.) Successful candidates will be awarded a national level 2 qualification (Level 5 in Scotland).

Duration:

A 1 day classroom based course

Syllabus:

A range of subjects are covered including: 

The hazards and risks associated with fire in the workplace
How fire risk is controlled in the workplace
The role of the nominated fire warden
The principles and practice of fire safety management at work 

Certification:

The qualification does not have an expiry date but refresher training and keeping up to date with changes to policies, procedures and new legislation through ongoing CPD is vital.

A maximum of 16 students are allowed and must be a minimum of 14 years of age and a certificate can be offered to all, subject to assessment.

Manual Handling Principles and Practice (1 day)

FAA Level 2 Award in Manual Handling – Principles and Practice (RQF)

We are all exposed at times to some form of manual handling such as lifting, carrying, pulling and pushing actions that can be compounded by simultaneous movements such as climbing or pivoting. Personal injuries resulting from incorrect manual handling in the workplace accounts for over one million working days lost per year, as well as the pain and suffering experienced by the casualties. Correct manual handling techniques can make a huge difference. 

The risks arising from manual handling have been recognised by the Health and Safety Executive for many years, as evidenced in their regulations and advisory activities promoting good practice. 

The Regulations require employers to provide their employees with health and safety information and training – supplemented, as necessary, with more specific information and training on manual handling injury risks and prevention. 

This course provides an ideal approach to safer and more effective manual handling – not only meeting HSE recommendations, but also promoting good and safe practices in any situation. 

Duration:

A 1-day classroom-based course. Dependant on the learner’s experience, there may well be some pre-course or post course reading.

Syllabus:

A range of subjects are covered that will equip delegates to: 

Understand the reasons for safe manual handling
Understand how manual handling risk assessments contribute to improving health and safety
Understand the principles, types of equipment and testing requirements associated with manual handling safety 

Be able to apply safe manual handling principles 

Certification:

Practical assessment is on-going by the instructor, culminating with a written test. 

This qualification does not expire, but refresher training and keeping up to date with changes to policies and procedures is vital to keep the qualification current.

A maximum of 16 students are allowed and must be a minimum of 14 years of age and a certificate can be offered to all, subject to assessment.
